The I International Conference Teaching with Comics is pleased to invite the academic community to participate in its celebration, which will take place on October 19th , 20th  and 21st 2022 at Universitat de València.

The Conference aims to create a scientific environment for presentations, research discussions and exchanges , projects and experience in which specialists, researchers and teachers  interested in the use of comics at various educational levels and subjects as well as a space for librarians, mediators and agents associated with education in order to generate synergies.

In its first edition, the Conference is based on two main fundamentals: reading and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) approved by the UN in 2015, which includes, quality education, reduced inequalities, environmental care, gender equality, no poverty, sustainable cities and communities, responsible consumption and production or universal access to peace and justice. These main points are the Conference heart. However, approaches from different disciplines and levels are also welcomed.

 

The main themes lines for this congress are the following:

  1. Comics and formal education at different levels: kindergarten, primary, secondary and A-levels.
  2. Comics as a learning tool in different areas and subjects.
  3. Comics in higher education.
  4. Comics in the skill competences.
  5. Comics and reading.
  6. Comics in spaces of socio-educational intervention.
  7. Comics and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
  8. Comics as an object of academic study.
  9. Comics and libraries.
  10. Education in ecology, in climate and environment through comics.
  11. Comics and quality education: equality, identity and diversity.
  12. Social comics in classroom: testimony, denunciation and education for peace.

 

Guidelines for the submission of proposals

There are two types of participation: communication or poster. Papers may be defended personally or virtually and a maximum of two communications per author will be accepted, regardless of the theme lines selected. In the case of proposals with more than one author, all authors should be registered for the conference.

Symposia will have a person responsible and three experts in the chosen theme. The person responsible will present the full proposal  of the symposia(theme, papers and researchers) for its evaluation and it will be coordinated with the organisation of the conference.

The call for proposals will be open until 6th May 2022.
